Visiting Kalamazoo Central was no match for Niles in Big 16 West Division volleyball Wednesday night.

The Vikings swept the Maroon Giants 25-22, 25-22 and 25-15.

“My players know this is a crucial point in the season for us, especially concerning conference matches,” Niles coach Jenny Nate said. “We need to work hard to win every game and improve our record and standing in the conference.  We are going to be playing a lot of powerhouses in the next few weeks and our level of play has to be at its highest from start to finish in order to compete and win these big matches.

“My team is working hard every day and is excited to face these teams. Tonight was a great team win on our home court which is always a huge motivator for the girls. We take on St. Joe next Tuesday away.”

Niles and St. Joseph are currently tied with Lakeshore for third place in the West Division. All three teams are currently 3-2. Portage Central currently leads the division with a 5-0 mark. Mattawan is second at 4-1.
