Dowagiac JV win Eau Claire tournament

EAU CLAIRE — The Dowagiac JV volleyball team captured the Eau Claire Rachel Magers Memorial Tournament Saturday.

The Chieftains took first place in pool play and ended the day with a 12-1 record.

In pool play, Dowagiac defeated Benton Harbor (2-0), Eau Claire (2-0) and Kalamazoo Home School (2-0) to finished 6-0.

Dowagiac defeated Bridgman in bracket play (2-0) and then New Buffalo in the semifinals (2-0).

In the championship match, the Chieftains defeated Berrien Springs 20-25, 25-15 and 15-2.

“I couldn’t have been more proud of these girls,” Dowagiac coach Christina Carpenter said. “They would get down but pick themselves back up and work as a team. They fought hard and represented Dowagiac well today.”
