Anthony Joseph Walls, Sr., 61, of Niles, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at his residence.

Tony was born Sept. 2, 1952 in Chicago, Ill. to Henry Walls, Sr., and Betty Jean Pompey. His mother survives. His father preceded him in death. He was also preceded by one sister, Denise Musgrove, and one niece, Erika Mwewa.

Tony loved his children and family. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, earning the rating of Sharpshooter and receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed baseball, football and basketball.

Tony will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, Betty Ware of Bay City; one son, Anthony J. Walls, Jr., of South Bend; five grandchildren, Jaylen Ware, Antonio Walls, Stefan Walls, Alana Walls, Arynn Walls; two sisters, Brenda (Perry) Broady of Covert, Elaine Musgrove-Mwewa of Mishawaka; three brothers, Henry Walls, Jr. of Waukegan, Illinois, Wesley Musgrove of Elkhart, Kenneth Musgrove of St. Louis, Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The family is grateful to Rodric Williams and Yvonne Rocha for opening their home to Tony.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. until time of service with Military Honors at 5:00 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with Apostle Christopher J. Pittman officiating. Mr. Walls remains will be laid to rest in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.

The family prefers contributions in Tony’s memory to Wagner Family Funerals to help defray expenses.
