Diners looking for a healthy place to eat breakfast and lunch in downtown Niles should check out Red Roof Cafe, 206 E. Main.

The new restaurant, owned by Linda Nelson and Earl Foster, is easy to spot on Main Street with its bright red roof. It isn’t open yet, but Linda said they are hoping to open by Monday.

“We are still waiting on a couple things yet,” she said.

It will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week.

You won’t find a deep fryer at the Red Rood Cafe. Nelson said they are focusing on offering healthy American style foods at a reasonable price.

“We’ll have some really nice healthy sandwiches, a real good breakfast and a great soup and salad bar,” Nelson said. “All of it is going to be from scratch. I don’t believe in prepackaged [food].”

The main attraction will be a large all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar.

“I believe there are 28 places on that salad bar and then we’ll have two soups,” she said.

Soups will change daily.

They will offer punch cards good for a free meal after purchasing 10 meals.

Nelson and Foster also own the Hob Nob and Home Plate restaurants. They own the 206 E. Main building, which previously housed Agrestic Grille before it closed in the summer.
