The Dowagiac soccer team and visiting Bangor played to a scoreless tie Thursday.

The Chieftains outshot the Vikings 18-7 in the contest, but could not get one in the back of the net.

Dowagiac’s Nate Stewart was credited with five saves on the seven Bangor attempts.

Despite the tie, Chieftain coach Mike Williams was pleased with his team’s effort.

“I thought there would be a couple of goals for both teams to be honest because I knew what they (Bangor) had,” Williams said. “We are coming together. I thought we would finish something. We controlled the field most of the time from the midfield.

“Defense did all the work today that’s for sure. Defense did a very nice job marking, especially the first half. We still have to tighten up. We are better than we were two weeks ago though.”
