Two Niles High School seniors performed with the Drum Corps International team, Legends, of Kalamazoo, during the Niles Four Flags Spectacular Thursday at Niles High School.

Shelby Coleman and Orion Tweedy both played the baritone during Legends’ 10-minute performance of “Ichabod” on the football field.

“Ichabod” told the story through music and movement of Washington Irving’s short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

Legends was one of seven DCI teams which played, including the Racine Scouts, of Racine, Wisc.; Blue Saints, of Sudbury, Ontario; Les Stentors, of Sherbrooke, Quebec; Raiders, of Wayne, N.J.; Genesis, of Edinburg, Texas; Seventh Regiment, of New London, Conn.; and Spartans, of Nashua, N.H.

The performance was one of the last stops for the teams before World Championship competition gets underway in Michigan City, Ind.

DCI is a nonprofit organization that allows youth to train and perform with others in a drum corps. Students practice daily and perform all over the United States.
