Former Niles standout Derek Scott has decided to continue his academic and athletic career at Trine University in Angola, Ind.

Scott, who excelled in football, wrestling and track at Niles, will play football at Trine and will also throw the shot according to Niles coach Antwon Jones.

Scott enjoyed his visit to Trine, which helped seal the deal.

“I liked the family atmosphere,” he said after signing his national letter of intent. “When I went there I felt like everyone was family.”

Scott was also looking at Adrian, Hope and Albion colleges.
