Thomas D. Johnson, 70, of Dowagiac, passed away July 18, 2013, at Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo.

Thomas was born Aug. 18, 1942, to Harry Thomas and Winnie Faye (Stubblefield) Johnson.

He followed his passion and worked as a computer programmer with General Motors, then at Electronic Data Systems.

On Aug. 14, 2010, he married his wife, Donna (Etter) Johnson, in Berrien Center.

Thomas loved both working on computers and playing games on them, and he enjoyed listening to Western stories, listening to country music and cheering on the Red Wings and Tigers.

Thomas served as president for the Clawson Lions Club.

He is survived by: his wife, Donna Johnson; his children, Leo Johnson of Dowagiac, Nancy (Dave Leski) Wilson of Dowagiac, Daren (Leanna) Iser of Grand Rapids, Kerry (Keith) Herter of Dowagiac, and eight grandchildren.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Winnie Faye Johnson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, July 21, at 3 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac.

Friends and family may visit from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Private family burial will follow at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons and the Lions Club.
