Shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday two black men wearing dark clothes entered G.W. Jones Exchange Bank in Edwardsburg and robbed the bank.

According to Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department Chief Kenneth Wray, the robbers got away with an undetermined amount of money. No one inside the bank was injured.

“At 2:08 in the afternoon two guys came in, one guy jumped over the counter and the other went around the end,” Wray said. “We have no description of the vehicle. They both had dark clothing on, but one looked like he may have had a gray sweater on instead of a dark-colored sweatshirt.

“They ran out of the building. They never saw a car leave. They did hear tires squealing. They must have gotten into a car because they heard tires squealing. They think maybe they went southbound, but nobody actually saw them go that way. They thought they saw a car go out, but didn’t have a real good description. We are working on videos to see if it drove by one of the cameras to get there.”

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police at the scene.

G.W. Jones Exchange Bank is located at 69139 M-62 South. There are also branches in Cassopolis and Marcellus.
