Irma Jean Schellhorn was born in Chicago bon July 4, 1916. Her parents were Emil Edmund Schellhorn and Lena Carolena Schellhorn (nee Faber).
She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5, 2013.

On May 15, 1937, she married Robert F. Koenigshof in Chicago. They made their home in Buchanan. They had two daughters, Marlene Conley Schultz (Ron) of Edwardsburg, and Ruth Ann Peirce (Doug), of Cheyenne, Wyo. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother to five grandchildren, Robert Conley (Jennifer) of Indianapolis, Ind., Moriah Cameron (Mark), of Palmer Lake, Col., Susan Shrider, of Edwardsburg, David Peirce (Linda), of Erie, Col., and Debra Jordan (Dan), of Clear Lake, Iowa. She was great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Nathan Conley, Robert Tyler, Zachary, Anna, Christina and Katie Cameron; Kyle and Kara Shrider; Davis, Cana, Sam and Eli Peirce; Peirce, Mitchell and Kirsten Jordan. She has one brother, Edmund Schellhorn, of Rochester, Ind. She has many nieces and nephews, and all were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Koenigshof, in 2003, and a sister, Bernice, in 1915.

Irma was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of South Bend, Ind. Previously, she was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Galien, where she served the Lord faithfully in the Ladies’ Aid Guild, as a choir member, as a Sunday School teacher and as a hard worker in the church kitchen, preparing and serving meals. She and her husband spent many years showing their love for God by caring for and visiting the sick and willingly helping those in need.

Irma’s hobbies were traveling, needlepoint, making Christmas decorations for each family member, cross-stitching and quilting bedspreads for each child, grandchild and great-grandchild and quilting with the other members of St. Peter’s Church Guild.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Swem Funeral Home, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. The funeral will be Tuesday July 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Swem Funeral Home in Buchanan. There will be a viewing beginning one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Buchanan.

She was loved by all who knew her. We will all miss her lovely smile and her great disposition. We were blessed to have known her and to be loved by her.
