Kicking off the event, Harding’s Market has donated the first 10 cases of bottled water. The Niles Burn Run is a nonprofit organization that depends on individuals, community leaders and businesses for donations to send children who are burn victims to the Great Lakes Burn Camp. It costs $600 to send a child to camp.

Last year, the Niles Burn Run donated $20,000 to the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

More help needed
The Niles Burn Run is in need of bottled water and canned soft drinks of any flavor or brand.

Melinda Michael, Niles Burn Run board member, said the drinks are used by volunteers and handed out to hundreds of participants during the Niles Burn Run event.

“We know there are many individuals who want to help the Niles Burn Run with fundraising and can not afford to donate a lot of money and this is a simple, but important donation that anyone can help with,” said Scott Roberts, Burn Run president. “Every dollar we save by getting items donated for our event allows us to donate more money to the Great Lakes Burn Camp for the kids.”

To donate, people can purchase drinks at Harding’s Market, 407 Broadway, Niles, and let them know the items are going to the Niles Burn Run.

People can also drop off drinks at the following locations: Four Flags Area Council on Tourism office, 404 E. Main St., Niles; or at the Niles Burn Run office located at Roberts Service Co., 1445 S. Third St., Niles.

The Niles Burn Run is July 13-14 in downtown Niles.
