Died: Jan. 22, 2013
Michael Stephen Moore, 51, of Cassopolis, was born on June 21, 1961, in Niles, to Robert and Minnie Pearl (Thomas) Moore.
He wore many hats (you never saw him without one): devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend.
The sun set for Mike on this side in the comfort of his sister’s home, and he woke up in the kingdom of our Lord on Jan. 22, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie Pearl Moore, and one sister, Berniece Moore.
Mike met his wife, Tracie, in 1983 and was united in matrimony on June 20, 1992.
Mike worked for the Cass County Road Commission (1981-1986), Gunite (1988-1990), Millennium (1995-2011) and Moore’s Wood Service for many years.
He was always willing to help those in need in any way he could.
A little about Mike:
Those who know him know that being outside and cutting wood was his favorite thing to do. He even had his son, Terence, cutting and, one day, when Terence wanted to go and be with his friends, Mike told him not until he finished cutting wood. Terence went to his mother and asked, “Do you think Dad will ever let his people go?” Mike cut for people even if they did not have the money to pay. Those who did knew he set a fair price. When told he should raise his prices, Mike would just smile and say, “I’m good!”
Mike will greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Tracie Moore, of Cassopolis; one daughter, Keyola Moore, of Goshen, Ind.; two sons, Michael (Nikki Lee) Moore Jr., of Michigan City, Ind., and Terence (Fortune) Moore, of Kalamazoo; nine grandchildren, Tyrone Moore, Jaquan Moore, Michael Moore, Daysha Moore, Tatyana Moore, Shayana Moore, Domanye Moore, Amaron Moore and Jeremih Moore; two sisters, Gloria McNeary and Marilyn Moore, both of Cassopolis; one brother, Herman Moore, of Cassopolis; two nieces, Deborah Moore and Melissa Moore; two nephews, Marcus Moore and Bryan McNeary; five great-nieces, Tawana (Wayne) Washington, Rita Moore, Antoinette Moore, Minniesha Moore and Maniah Moore; and three great-nephews, Robert Moore, Marcus Moore Jr. and Marquez Moore; and a host of many more family and friends.
Family and friends gather Monday, Jan. 28, from 3 until 4 p.m. in Chain Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 16853 Chain Lake St., Cassopolis, with the Rev. Norman Tubbs officiating.
