BUCHANAN — Eleven teams totaling 140 people signed up for the “superdraft” softball tournament Saturday at McCoy Creek Recreation Area to benefit the family of crash victims Julianna Brown and Sophia True and their sister, Penelope True.

According to organizers Mike and Kristin Kromer, at least $3,500 was raised through entry fees and raffles by noon.

The tournament, which drew players from Niles and as far as South Bend, Kalamazoo and Fort Wayne, Ind., cost $15 per person.

Prize and 50/50 raffles were held, and tournament T-shirts were sold.

“We’ve had a lot of people say it’s a good tournament,” Mike Kromer said. “Everyone who said they’d show up showed up.”
