Suspects sought in Carberry Road shooting

Authorities are seeking two suspects in a shooting today at the corner of Carberry Road and Moulder Drive in Howard Township.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, investigators have identified Anthony Quintel Bostick, 21, and Kayla Johnson, 21, as possibly being involved in the shooting. Bostick is 5-foot-8, 240 pounds and Johnson is 5-foot-4, 120 pounds.
At 11:56 a.m. Thursday, Cass County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 872 Carberry Rd., near Hatcherville Park, after a passerby called 911 and stated they had witnessed a subject shooting at individuals at the residence.
Officers responding to the call did not find anyone injured, but did confirm that an argument had occurred in the yard of the residence and that one of the persons involved had walked to the car in which he had arrived, pulled out a handgun and began shooting at a number of individuals in the yard. This subject then got back into the vehicle and was driven away from the scene by another subject. The car is described as a dark-colored, possibly black, medium-sized four-door sedan.
According to neighbor Nina Stuck, who has lived down the street in the 800 block for four months, she was sitting on her porch having a yard sale when she heard six or seven gun shots.
“We are living in a country area,” she said. “You hear gun shots all the time. I didn’t really think anything of it until I saw the cop cars.”
Deputies asked Stuck and other residents to call the sheriff’s department if they spot a black, four-door Mercury.
An officer was using a metal detector on both sides of Carberry to locate shell casings.

Assisting deputies at the scene was the Michigan State Police and investigators from the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team.
This incident remains under investigation.
Carberry Road is synonymous with another act of violence, committed about a block from the shooting. The double-homicide of John and Carolyn Tarwacki in the 900 block of Carberry, in February 2010, remains unsolved.
