Name of business: Truckstop Skateboard Shop

Name of owner: Chris Pawielski

Address of business: 603 N. Second St., Niles

Date business opened: April 2011

Where are you from originally? Niles

What type of business do you operate — what you sell, services provided? We sell skateboards and related merchandise. We specialize in having the latest in decks, trucks and wheels. We buy only what the local skateboarders request.

What sets your business apart from similar ventures? We take great pride in our pricing. Competing with online prices is almost impossible for small retail businesses, but we try. We aim to have the most popular gear at the best prices in the area. Also, we don’t sell kayaks, beach balls or suntan lotion. We sell skateboards and hire expert staff who know their stuff. We can answer your questions and provide excellent advice.

What customers do you reach? Skateboarders of all abilities in Niles and the surrounding communities.

How does the future look? The first couple years are always tough. We’re making headway toward financial success.
