Steve Juhasz, II, 93, of Ontario Road, Niles, died Monday, April 16, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 21, 1918, in Niles, to Steve and Mary (Szabo) Juhasz.
Steve was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II.
He retired from National-Standard Co. after 25 years of service.
Steve was a remarkable father; he loved to have his family over, especially his grandchildren.
His joy was also to work in his garden and take care of his yard.
He could spend hours burning brush in his woods, especially when his granddaughter Kelly would be with him, sitting around the fire talking.
On March 23, 1946, in Arlington, Mass., he married Marjorie R. Stingel; she preceded him in death March 17, 1999.
From their union survives daughters, Adrienne (Silvester) Ramos and Marjorie (Steve) Latislaw, both of Niles, and son, Steve (Linda) Juhasz III, of South Bend; five grandchildren, Tracy Miller of Mishawaka, Kelly (David) Schulz of South Bend, Steve
(Jennifer) Juhasz, III of Niles, Jon Juhasz of Niles and Brandi Coder of Niles; great-grandchildren, Jessica Riffel, Jennifer, Ashlee, Alexandria Miller, Brittany Coder, Jacob, Lori and Jamie Juhasz; great-great-grandchildren Liila, Kaleb, Gabriella and Liam; niece, Linda Alicea; brother, Andrew Juhasz of California; and sister, Elsie Niedlinger of Berrien Springs.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Ernest and John Juhasz; and sisters, Irene Spencer, Margaret Fabiano and Mary Banfi.
Funeral services for Steve Juhasz, II will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow at the Smith Chapel Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.
