Orville “Orv” L. Kronewitter, 85, of Osceola, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at his residence with his loving family at his bedside.
Orv was born on Dec. 11, 1926, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Nicholas and Lucinda (Williams) Kronewitter.

On May 2, 1964, Orv married the former Doris Ruple in Dowagiac.
Orv is survived by his wife Doris and their three children, Debbie Strom of Dowagiac, Robyn (Jerry) Karkiewicz of Granger, Ind., and Andy (Charmaine) Kronewitter of Gilbert, Ariz.
Orv was a loving and caring grandfather to three grandchildren, Nicole and Karlie Kronewitter of Gilbert, Ariz., and Brad Springman of Greenwood, Ind.; two nieces, Nikki Nowak and Cindy Daniels, and a nephew, John David (JD) Strom; six great nieces; four great nephews; and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Lorene Gentsler and Phyillis Strom, have preceded Orv in death along with two sons-in law, Kevin Strom and Craig Springman and two nieces, Karol Cramer and Kim Cumberland; one great niece, Kristin (Nowak) Darby.
Orv graduated from Washington-Clay High School in 1944 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.
Orv was a member and served as a past commander of VFW Post 3644 in Hartford.
Orv retired as a mechanical millwright from Bethlehem Steel after 22 years of service.
Upon retiring from Bethlehem Steel, Orv owned and operated the Edwardsburg 76 Gas Station, retiring in 1993 after five years of service.
Orv and Doris were parishioners of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Family and friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, with the memorial service at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Dan Scheidt officiating at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, Ind.
The family is honoring Orv’s wishes to be cremated, which has already taken place.
