Flarie B. Hale, 101, of Chicago, formerly of Cassopolis, was called home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, in Advocate Trinity Hospital, Chicago.

Mrs. Hale was born Dec.12, 1910, in Greenville, Miss., to James and Lula (Demby) Kelley. She married Nathan Bennett Hale, Sr. on Sept. 13, 1935, in Chicago. He preceded her in death on Sunday, April 29, 2001.
She was also preceded by two daughters, Katherine Hale and Vivian Hale; one son, Nathan B. Hale, Jr.; three sisters and two brothers.
Flarie was a wonderful soul food cook who also enjoyed gardening and quilting.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of Bethel A. M. E. Church in Calvin Center, where she served on the Missionary Society.
Mrs. Hale is survived by two daughters, Gloria D. Hale of Battle Creek and Hildra (Frank) Johnson of Lakeside, Calif.; two sons, Gilbert (Jean) Hale, Sr. of Chicago and Richard Hale of San Diego; nine grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends gathered Friday, March 9, from 10 a.m. until the time of her Homegoing Service at 11 a.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 19214 Mount Zion St., Cassopolis, with the Rev. Saundria Hodges Wilson officiating. Mrs. Hale was laid to rest next to her husband in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis.
