Dear editor:

It is very encouraging to see my congressman, Fred Upton, leading the charge for making America more energy independent and fighting against gas price hikes.

First, Congressman Upton is working to expand American energy production, so we are using more of our resources instead of relying on and enriching countries that despise us.

Second, Upton is fighting to allow the private sector to build the Keystone Pipeline, which will bring a significant amount of oil into our country and reduce the amount we import from the Middle East.

Third, Upton introduced and passed a bill through the House to prevent the “cap and trade” energy tax.

I am proud that my congressman, Fred Upton, is fighting for us in Washington.
