CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Clerk/Register Barbara Runyon announced Wednesday that she will not be seeking re-election when her four-year term expires on Dec. 31.
Runyon, a Republican, was first elected as the Cass County Clerk/Register in 2004 and has worked for Cass County for 30 years.
“My campaign promise was to make improvements to the office,” Runyon said, “and I’m proud to say that I’ve made those improvements. The Clerk/Register’s Office is now fully automated. Automation has allowed residents to perform business on-line, such as land record searches, applying for a marriage license, providing election returns, forms and other valuable information. The office has made tremendous strides due to the hard work of a wonderful staff, which includes: Monica Kennedy, Paulette Nodruff, Marla Binns, Ruth Gardner, Mary Parmley and Heather Harding.
“I’ve enjoyed my tenure with Cass County,” Runyon said, “and working in the public
sector has been especially rewarding. I will miss my Cass County family, but plan to spend more time with family and grandchildren. I’m not retiring, I’m just slowing down,” Runyon said.
