Chester Allen Hamman Sr., 72, of Niles, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at his residence with his family by his side.

Chester Hamman was born March 3, 1940, in Mishawaka to Chester and Annabelle (Ferree) Hamman.

He is preceded in death by his father, Chester Arzy Hamman, and an infant sister, Ruth Hamman.

Chester is survived by his mother, Annabelle Hamman of Bristol; four sons, Chester A. Hamman Jr. of Mishawaka, Robert D. (Penny) Hamman of Niles, Anthony M. (Julie) Hamman of Elkhart and James A. (Melissa) Hamman of Niles; daughter, Dora A. (John) Shepherd of Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Curtis of Niles, Brenda Irons of Indiana and Mary (Robert) Wiley of Middlebury, Ind.

In keeping with Chester’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, March 9, at 1 p.m. in Mission Hills Memorial Chapel.
