To the editor:

They said it could not be done.
It took two years, but the 1902 Dowagiac Depot has lights on it.
Without the help of many people it would not have happened.
The big donators were St. Denys Foundation, Christmas for Rent, Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers, Wolverine Mutual Insurance, Town and Country Garden Club and Skibbe Business and Tax Service. Other people and businesses that also stepped up were Robert Peters, Sonja Smith, Dr. Fred Mathews, Robert Barton, Cass County Sheriff’s Mounted Division, Cass County Railroad Club, Tina Leitke, Fryman’s Recycling, Sun Tree Hardwoods, Dowagiac Animal Hospital, Matt Cripe DDS, Yazel and Clark Chapel, Lyons Industries, John and Curt’s Brake and Alignment, Dowagiac Commercial Press, The Marshall Shoppe, Creative Vinyl Signs, Mike and Betty McCabe and Vylonis Contracting.
If you know any of these people, please tell them thank you for their donation to “Light up the Depot.”
At the dedication on Nov. 7, the donuts were donated by Brothers Baking Co. of Edwardsburg and the cider by Harding’s Market of Dowagiac.
The lights highlight the 110- year-old Dowagiac Depot and were turned on Nov. 7 and will go off March 11 until next fall.
Thanks again for all the people who helped “Light Up the Depot.”
