Evelyn Stewart, 94, of Dowagiac, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.
Evelyn was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Dowagiac to the late Furmer and Hazel (Brown) Reed.
On Sept. 24, 1940, Evelyn married the love of her life, William “Bill” Stewart at a ceremony in South Bend.
Bill passed away on Sept. 29, 2007. They spent 67 great years of marriage together.
Evelyn was a member of First Christian Church and Dowagiac Moose Lodge.
She enjoyed golf, bowling and played bingo for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Evelyn is survived by: a son, Thomas Stewart of Dowagiac; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ann Stewart of Dowagiac; three grandsons, Ryan (Emily) Frontczak of Niles, Matthew (Sara) Stewart of Buchanan and Anthony Stewart of Dowagiac; three great-grandchildren, Mason Frontczak, Drew Frontczak and Madelyn Stewart; and a niece, Karen Myers of Dowagiac.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m., at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
