Eddies rout Bobcats

Host Edwardsburg outscored Brandywine 32-19 in the first half en route to an easy 75-43 Lakeland Conference boys basketball victory Tuesday night.
The win upped the Eddies’ overall record to 6-4 and improved their league mark to 3-1. The Bobcats fall to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in conference action.
Edwardsburg scored 16 points in each of the first two quarters and then exploded for 43 second half points.
Brandywine was only able to muster 24 points in the final 16 minutes of play.
Max Habicht and Josh Kozinski led a balanced Eddies’ attack with 13 points each. Evan VanBelle, Patrick Harvey and Kyle Slack all finished with 10 points.
Michael Shelton led all scorers with 15 points for the Bobcats, who also got nine points from Evan Hartman.

BRIDGMAN — Defending Lakeland Conference champion Bridgman dropped to 2-6 on the season Friday night when visiting Edwardsburg defeated the Bees 43-34.
The Eddies (5-4, 2-1 Lakeland) led at every quarter break against Bridgman.
Edwardsburg took a 12-8 advantage after one quarter and increased it to 28-11 at halftime after outscoring Bridgman 16-3 in the second quarter.
The Bees made a run at the Eddies in the second half, cutting the lead to nine points (34-25) heading into the fourth quarter.
Despite holding a 21-15 advantage in the scoring column in the second half, Bridgman was not able to overcome the early deficit.
Josh Kozinski, the area’s second leading scorer at 22.3 points per game, finished with a game-high 19 points for the Eddies. Kyle Slack added nine points.
Jackson Kamp led the Bees with 13 points.

COLOMA — Visiting Cassopolis won its second straight contest and for the third time in four games Friday night as it defeated Coloma 58-50.
The Rangers slowly built a 15-point advantage through the first three quarters and then had to survive a Comet comeback in the final eight minutes to earn the Lakeland Conference boys’ basketball victory.
Cassopolis (3-5, 1-2 Lakeland) led 17-10 after the first quarter and by 10 points (30-20) at the intermission. The lead reached 15 points by the end of the third quarter when the Rangers took a 48-33 advantage.
Coloma (2-5, 1-3 Lakeland) outscored Cassopolis 17-10 in the final eight minutes to cut the advantage to eight points.
Kenneth Carson led the Rangers with a game-high 16 points. Damion Brown added 11 points.
Earl Taylor led the Comets with 13 points.
