PORTAGE — The Niles freshmen and JV boys basketball teams were swept by host Portage Northern Thursday night.

The Vikings dropped the freshman game 57-54, snapping a two-game winning streak. The Niles JV fell to the Huskies 42-32.

Freshmen basketball

RaQuon Glenn scored 28 points to lead Niles Thursday night. The Vikings also got 11 points from Gabe Stokes, along with five points and five rebounds from David Kennedy.

JV basketball

Matthew Miller and Jesse Jordan each scored seven points for the Vikings, who also got six points from Cole Clemens.

Miller led the team in rebounds with 13.

“Matthew is really playing well for us,” Niles coach Josh Bourne said. “He is starting to show the tough consistency that he is capable of in the post — rebounding and scoring.”
