Harvey Hoover, Jr., 61

Harvey “June” H. Hoover, Jr., 61, residing in Niles, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, 2012 at home.

He was born in South Bend on Oct. 8, 1950, to Harvey H. Hoover, Sr., who survives, and Alice E. (Clymer) Hoover, who preceded him in death.

Harvey retired from AM General after 27 years of service and was a lifelong area resident.

Harvey loved riding his motorcycles before his disabling accident 13 years ago. He enjoyed working on vehicles and was always fixing and tinkering with something. He also enjoyed music and going on long car rides. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Harvey Sr. of South Bend, he is survived by one daughter, Heather Hoover of South Bend; two sons, Dennis (Sandra) Hoover of South Bend and Shawn (Heather) Hoover of Niles; eight grandchildren, Laura, Dequane, Dennis Jr., Brooklyn, Malia, Devin, Coleman and Elizabeth; one sister, Cindy (Terry) Francis of South Bend; seven brothers, William, Timothy, Michael, Rick, Russell, Kevin and John Hoover, all of South Bend; and his ex-wife/ best friend, Debra Weinberg.

Funeral services for Harvey will be 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at Palmer Funeral Home -River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. The Rev. Greg Crump will officiate.

Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home prior to services.

Cremation will take place.
