Beverly L. Stoops of Dowagiac passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, in Kalamazoo at Borgess Medical Center.
Beverly was born June 9, 1927, in South Bend Ind., at Epworth Hospital (now Memorial).
On Nov. 13, 1948, in Coalmont, Ind., at the Baptist church she married Max E. Stoops, who passed away June 18, 2004.
Beverly and Max made their home in South Bend until July of 1965 when they moved to Dowagiac.
She was employed with the Dowagiac Police Department for 22 years, retiring in June of 1989.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Sandie (Ron) Myers of Tiffin Ohio, and Beverly (Jack) Brown of Dowagiac; one son, John (Faye) Buscoe of Granger, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Borsody of South Bend; a brother, Jack (Evelyn) Cato of Mishawaka, Ind.; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a stepson; a grandson; and four sisters, Rose Cato, Ilba Hagedorn, Margreat Franklin and Lucille Gacki.
Beverly’s family and friends will gather at Yazel and Clark Chapel in Dowagiac on Monday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Her funeral service will also be held at Yazel and Clark on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at Mission Hills following the service.
