Margaret Ann Martin, 90, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest Jan. 9, 2012, while residing at West Woods of Niles.
Margaret was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Harrisburg, Pa., to Forrest “Chic” and Margaret (Culver) Crothers.
Margaret lived in the Edwardsburg area most of her life. She was a member of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church. Her parents and grandparents were owners of Culver’s Resort on Eagle Lake, and Margaret had her turn working at the resort. She graduated from high school in 1939.
Margaret married her sweetheart, L. Dean Martin, on Nov. 22, 1941, in South Bend. Surviving are her husband, Dean, along with their children, Cindy (Bill) Robinson of Niles, Roxane (Joel) Baker of Brandon, Fla., Scott (Mary) Martin of Dunlap, Ind., Carol Claire of Niles and Tim Martin of Sacramento, Calif. There are a total of 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. There is one loving sister surviving, Nancy Smith of Edwardsburg.
Family who have passed are her parents, Chic and Margaret Crothers; a son-in-law, Brian L. Claire; her sister, Patricia Wendt; and three nephews.
Family and friends will gather Thursday, Jan. 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 25863 W. Main St. (U.S. Highway 12), Edwardsburg.
The service of remembrance will be Friday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, 68961 Lake St. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott Scheel, church pastor. There will be a time to gather one hour before the service at the church.
Burial will follow at Edwardsburg Cemetery.
It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church.
