Chieftains fall to Coloma

COLOMA — Chelsea Carotenuto hit the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired Tuesday night to give Coloma a 33-32 victory over winless Dowagiac.
The Comets erased a 12-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Chieftains (0-5) 16-5 in the third quarter.
Dowagiac led 8-3 after one quarter of play and 20-8 at halftime. But after the Comets’ outburst in the third quarter, Coloma trailed by a point (25-24) heading into the final eight minutes of action.
The two teams battled back and forth throughout the period and Carotenuto gave the Comets the victory with her long-range bomb at the buzzer.
Not a single Coloma player reached double digits in the contest. Heidi Conrad led the team with nine points. Carotenuto and Jenna Faultersack each scored seven points.
Correshia Rodgers led the Chieftains with a game-high 13 points. Kelsie Primley added five.
