David C. Lawson, 87, of Vandalia, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at his residence.
He was born March 12, 1924, in Calvin Township to Floyd and Winifred (Kennedy) Lawson.
He married Ocohlene Toni Boyd, who preceded him in death. He later married Betty Lou Stewart. She preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2011.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Lawson, Roma Jones and Violet Harris; and two brothers, Harry Lawson and Franklin Lawson.
David served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion. He retired as a foreman with the State of Michigan Highway Department.
He is survived by three sons, Boyd Lawson of Virginia, David Michael (Jann) Lawson of St. Cloud, Fla.,and Ricky Lawson of Dowagiac; four grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Lawson of Virginia, David Lawson of Costa Rica, Stephen Lawson of North Carolina and Robert Lawson of Kissimmee, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lawson’s remains will be laid to rest next to those of his first wife, Ocohlene Boyd Lawson, in Osceola Memory Gardens in Kissimmee.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel, Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
