MSU Extension in Cass County will be offering Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) training and testing Friday, Dec. 9, in the conference room of the County Services Building in Cassopolis.
The MSU Extension in St Joseph County will also be offering the training and testing on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the MSU Extension office in Centreville. The training/review will be held during the morning hours starting at 9 a.m. and finishing about noon. During the afternoon participants will have an opportunity to take the RUP exam from noon to 3 p.m.
The training will focus on information in the Private Applicator Core Manual (Extension bulletin E-3007), which provides the basic information to successfully take the private applicator’s exam. They will not provide training on specific category subjects required for commercial applicators because of the complexity and time constraints.
This training/testing program is open to anyone who desires to obtain a license for the first time or those who are renewing an existing license. Cost of the morning training is $20 payable at the door, cash or check only (payable to MSU Extension). Cost for the exam will be $50 for private applicators and $75 for commercial applicators. Michigan Department of agriculture requires payment at the time you take your exam. Checks (no cash) should be made payable to “Michigan Department of Agriculture.” Those who wish to renew an existing license should bring their renewal notice with them.
