Sarah Gogley, 66

Sarah Irene (Strickland) Gogley, 66, of Niles, passed away at her home Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, with her family by her side.
Sarah was born Dec. 29, 1944, to the late Levi and Virginia (Curtner) Strickland in Niles. After finishing her schooling she went to work for the Whistle Stop Cafe in Niles. On May 26, 1962 she wed the love of her life, Howard Gogley Jr., at a ceremony in Niles.  Together they had two children. Sarah then went to work at Essex Wiring for a short time before beginning her career at Rudy’s. Sarah was at Rudy’s when it became Sunstrand and continued to work there until her retirement 27 years later. After her retirement Sarah began working home health care in the Niles and South Bend area.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Billy Strickland.
She is survived by her loving husband, Howard; children, Diana (Michael) Hartz of Brownsburg, Ind. and David (Cheryl) Gogley of Niles; grandchildren, Grant Hartz, Mitchell Hartz, Tiffanie Gogley, Kacey Gogley, Amanda Freeze, Brittany Roberts and Sara Carpenter; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Montene Doehrer of South Bend, Frank (Sharon) Strickland of Delton, Mich. and Retha (Jack) Tesch of Elkhart, Ind.
The family will be hosting a short memorial service at the Eagles Lodge in Niles on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m.
The family has asked that memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice at Home located at 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 or the American Cancer Society located at P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
