Kansas City, Mo.
He is the eldest son of the late Charlie Williams Sr. and the late Earnestine (Ross) Williams. Charlie spent his early childhood in Niles, where he confessed Christianity at an early age.
He graduated from Niles High School in 1957 and then enlisted in the United States Navy. After 25 years of service, he retired as a corpsmen chief petty officer. Charlie went on to work at the San Francisco Housing Authority as the director of safety and retired after 14 years of service.
He was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was active in many church organizations such as the choir, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) and Couples for Christ. Charlie was the president of Branch 8 of the Fleet Reserve, as well as being active with several VA organizations such as the American Legion (past president) and an AMVET member. He also served on the Grand Jury and was a member of the Democratic Party.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Toshiko; his sons, Guy and his wife, Blanca of Elk Grove, David of South Bend; and daughter, Charlene, and her husband, Tunde Green, of Sacramento; sisters, Georgia Boggs and Margie Livers of Niles, Earnestine and her husband, Sam Lacy, of Dowagiac; and his brother, Roy, and his wife, Johnnie, of San Jose. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Veronica and Aminah, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Samuel Williams.
A viewing will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1791 Marshal Rd. in Vacaville on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church followed by committal services with full military honors at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
