Vote Skalla for mayor

Dear editor:

I am so thankful that I attended the Oct. 17 forum at the Niles library because being there in person made me realize that Niles mayoral candidate William “Tim” Skalla not only won the debate, but is clearly the best choice in this race.
Skalla’s statements provided ample evidence that he had the ability and the willingness to help breathe some new life into our town. Skalla and his family are especially well-known for their years of volunteering in Niles.
It is worth noting that Skalla’s responses reflected strong efforts to actually answer all questions by clearly stating pertinent historical and current facts while offering plausible solutions to multiple problems, and Skalla provided solid rationales each time.
Our rich local history makes Skalla’s ideas for business and developing the Fort St. Joseph and Indian village even more relevant today. Skalla explained how we are uniquely poised in Niles for new business and how the increased revenue generated by the increased local tourism could help Niles in many ways. It was refreshing to hear someone speak of tangible goals while using specific details instead of hearing the usual tired generalities for explanations.
Finally, I loved it when Skalla said, “We need to rely on ourselves more.” It is that type of “can-do” thinking that will help build upon the accomplishments of the past while focusing on positive advancements for our future.
Vote for Skalla to get the job done!

Sincerely,

Karen Vinnedge
