Martin’s Super Market cashier Luann Bright knows how to get people to donate money to a good cause.
She has been the top fundraiser at the Niles store for at least the past four years. So what is her secret?
“Effort,” said Bright, who raised $1,388 of her store’s $1,604 for the Bundle-A-Buddy program this year.
Bundle-A-Buddy funds the Niles Service League’s liaison program, which provides clothing, glasses and other necessities to children in the Niles, Brandywine and Buchanan area.
Bright has been working at Martin’s for 15 years. To raise money for the Niles Service League sponsored Bundle-A-Buddy program, Bright put on her brightest face when asking for $1 donations from the customers at her register.
“The first couple days were slow going, but I kept right with it,” Bright said.
“Many people wanted to know if the money was going to stay local, and I was happy to say that it would. Those ladies at the service league do so much for this area.”
Bright looks forward to the fundraiser ever year.
“There are so many little ones out there uncared for that need coats and hats and boots and so on,” Bright said. “We have to take care of our little ones.”
