Jack Edward Knoll died Oct. 7, 2011, in Fremont, Calif., with family by his side. He was 87.

Jack was born May 28, 1924, to Nina (Iden) Knoll and Andrew F. Knoll. Jack was the eldest of eight children.

In March 1943, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was discharged honorably due to the failing health of his father.

Jack is survived by: Jackie (Knoll) Low, daughter; son-in-law John D. Low of Fremont, Calif.; Jeffrey D. Knoll, son, and daughter-in-law Marsha (Matthews) Knoll, East Lansing; three grandchildren, Heather Holloway, David Low (wife Danielle Low) and Vanessa Low; great-granddaughter, Taylynn; and Charles Knoll, brother, Niles.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Jane Kelso (Knoll) and daughter, Bernadette Knoll George.

Jack was a member of the Niles Elks. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed.

He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Mass will be Thursday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Mission Hills Memorial Cemetery.
