OTSEGO – Visiting Dowagiac outscored previously undefeated Otsego 20-0 in the second half to earn a 27-7 victory Thursday night in JV action.

The Chieftains and Bulldogs were deadlocked at 7-7 at halftime.

I can’t say enough about how well we played as a team,” Dowagiac coach Matt Alward said. “We went into this game with with several injuries, which meant we had to play some of our players out of position and really limited our ability to sub players in and out.

We also lost our starting quarterback in the first half. Not to mention the pouring rain we had to play in. It really says a lot about our football team when you have that much adversity staked against you and your playing an undefeated team to come out on top. I couldn’t be prouder of our kids and our coaching staff. We hope to build on the win and finish the season 6-2.”
