Wayne Twp. meth lab, marijuana grow found

Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announces that on Thursday, Oct. 13, detectives executed a search warrant in the 25000 block of McKenzie Street in Wayne Township.

Two adult subjects were arrested at the scene.

Police report locating evidence of multiple prior methamphetamine labs at the residence, methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

Eighteen marijuana plants and amounts of marijuana were also located.

A male and female were both arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, production of hazardous waste, manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.

The subjects were lodged at the Cass County Jail in Cassopolis.

Three minor children were residing at the residence.

Officers contacted the Child Protective Services (CPS) division of the Department of Human Services.

CPS officials came to the scene and the three children were taken into protective custody.

Cass County Animal Control also went to the scene and removed multiple animals from the property.

This matter remains under investigation.
