Arthur Kloswick, 99
May 28, 1912 — Sept. 22, 2011

Arthur L. Kloswick, 99, of Edwardsburg, retired farmer and feed-miller at the former Cass Co-Ops and later at Community Mills in Cassopolis, died on Sept. 22, 2011, at Cass County Medical Care Facility. He was 99.
“Art,” as he was generally known, was born May 28, 1912, at midnight in Chicago, the son of Stanley Kloswick (a.k.a. Zygmunt Klosowicz, a.k.a. Stanley Wick) and Helen (Konior) Kloswick.
Art lived in the same farmhouse on what is now Oil City Road in Jefferson Township since coming here from Chicago in 1931.
He was much attached to his home and, except for some talk in his younger days of possibly homesteading in Alberta or Alaska, he showed no desire to live elsewhere. He strongly disliked eating out.
In retirement, he cut firewood, gardened, read and was  a tender and able caregiver for his wife in her last years as an invalid.
He was one of the earlier members of Our Lady of the Lake Church.
In 1942, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Edwardsburg, he married Joan Luttman, who died in January 1995.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Bernard Kloswick; his brother, Eugene Wick; and other relatives, including a special aunt and uncle, Stella and Ben Kopkowski of Chicago.
Survivors include: his daughter, Helen Kloswick of Edwardsburg; his son, John Kloswick of East Lansing; his grandson, Eli Kloswick, who is a student at Notre Dame; and his daughter-in-law, Christine Kloswick of Edwardsburg.
Family and friends may gather at the social hall of Our Lady of the Lake Church, 24832 U.S. 12, Edwardsburg, on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., when there will be a prayer service.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church with Father Joe McCormick, pastor, officiating.
There was one hour of visitation before the Mass on Tuesday at the church.
Burial followed at Reames and Norton Cemetery north of Edwardsburg, where the family plot is located.
It is suggested memorials be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church or to Cass County Medical Care Facility, 23770 Hospital St., Cassopolis, MI 49031.
Arrangements are by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
