DMS football teams play well against Niles

NILES — The Dowagiac Middle School seventh and eighth grade football teams traveled to Niles Wednesday to face Ring Lardner.

The seventh grade came away with a 14-14 tie, while the eighth grade posted a 42-28 victory over the Vikings.

Seventh grade

Julian Daisy and Marcus Winchester scored touchdowns for the Chieftains. Mack Charles scored the 2-point conversion for Dowagiac.

Dustin Anders and Bradley Moran both scored for the Vikings. Alex Harpenau scored the 2-point conversion for Niles.

Eighth grade

Brandon Hatch, Brandon Winchester-Jones and Jacob Davis all scored for the Chieftains. Scott Hassle played well at quarterback.

“Compliments go out to the offensive line of Josh Lamphere, David Brogan, Diego Paredes, Reid Adams, Sonny Behnke and Justin Mcambrige for an excellent job of blocking,” Dowagiac coach Chad Perrin said.

Defensive leaders for the Chieftains were Jerid Hatch, Tyler Duel, Brandon Hatch and Winchester-Jones.
