Nancy B. Hayden, 88, of Aventura Fla., died at 3:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at Riveridge Manor in Niles following a
brief illness.
She was born Aug. 26, 1922 in Grand Rapids, to Gerald William and Kathleen (Brothers) O’Boyle.
Nancy attended school in Grand Rapids and the Phil Osterhouse Dance Studio and enjoyed dancing at Ramona Gardens Amusement Park.
During her junior year of high school the O’Boyle family moved to Cassopolis, where they operated Gem Theater. She attended Elon College in Graham, N.C. On May 4, 1946 in Cassopolis, she married Joseph P. Hayden. Joe Hayden’s Ford dealership in Niles supported their growing family. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles.
Nancy enjoyed reading and golfing and socializing with friends but her greatest interest and joy was her family.
After a trip to south Florida, Joe and Nancy moved there but continued to summer at Diamond Lake in Cassopolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hayden Sr. on Sept. 4, 2003; her parents; and a brother, Gerald W. O’Boyle.
Surviving family includes their children, Martha (Raymond) Royan of Lakeland, Fla., Phil (Becky) Hayden of Edwardsburg, Kathleen (Douglas) Pendley of Coral Springs, Fla. and Suzanne Lee of Homestead, Fla.; grandchildren Mark (April) Royan, Lisa Royan, Thimgan (Joseph) Ruppert, Anne (Jeffrey) Pulling, Joseph Hayden, Bradley (Tiffany) Unger, Bryan (Danya) Unger and Colin Lee; great-grandchildren Andrew Royan, Hayden Stephans, Myken Ruppert, Cedric Ruppert, Victoria Pulling, Brayden Unger, Logan Unger, Morgan Unger and Ethan Unger; Nancy’s sister Virginia Borough of Deerfield Beach, Fla. and several nieces and nephews.
