Maryland swimmer drowns

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood reported Sunday that the Indian Lake drowning victim’s body was recovered about 9:30 a.m.
Victim Sean Stewart, 26, of Baltimore, Md., was swimming off the rear of a speedboat with some friends when it was noticed that he was missing.
A search for the victim began immediately and continued until suspended due to darkness on Saturday, Aug. 27. The search resumed Sunday and continued until Stewart’s body was recovered.
An autopsy was ordered by the Cass County Medical Examiner.
The Silver Creek Township incident remains under investigation.
Assisting the Cass County Marine Division and Dive Team were Berrien County and Van Buren County Marine Division and Dive Teams, Indian and Sister Lakes Fire Departments, Pride Care Ambulance Service and Memorial Medflight from South Bend, Ind.
