Jordan B. Whitney, 92, a resident of Berrien Springs for the past 61 years, died Friday morning, Aug. 26, 2011 at his home.

Jordan was born May 2, 1919, in Oshkosh, Wis., the son of Byron and Rena (Jordan) Whitney. He proudly served his country with the Army Air Corp during WWII.

He earned his bachelor’s degree and was a teacher in Berrien County for 20 years in Galien, Bridgman and Benton Harbor schools. He was a captain of Civil Defense in the 1960s, and was a former member of the Berrien Springs American Legion Stover-Wagner Post 85.

Jordan was also an electrician and could fix anything. He loved all animals, he enjoyed traveling and he loved his truck.

Survivors include his wife, Pat (Andrews); daughter, Gretchen (David) Beck of Arlington, Texas; son, Dean (Jean) Whitney of Berrien Springs; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Allred Funeral Home in Berrien Springs, where friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at noon until service time.

Burial will be in the Whitney family plot in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega, Wis.
