KALAMAZOO – Edwardsburg reached the finals of the Kalamazoo Hackett Invitational Saturday before falling to Gobles 25-15 and 25-19.

The Eddies were 3-3 on the day as they opened their season.

In pool play, Edwardsburg lost to Gobles 25-13, 19-25 and 15-11, defeated Kalamazoo Christian 25-21, 27-25, lost to Coloma 25-20, 25-15 and 15-10 before defeating Marcellus 25-21 and 25-12 to advance to the semifinals.

The Eddies reached the championship match with a 25-14 and 25-11 win over Watervliet.

Bronnie Tafunai had 47 kills and 38 digs for Edwardsburg, which also got 27 kills, 39 digs and 10 aces from Andrea LaPlace. Ally McIntee finished with a team-high 71 digs, while Madison Hatievich had 70 assists.

The Eddies will host Niles Wednesday night.
