Dear editor:

Thank you for your recent column “Berrien County’s Selling Point – The Horse of Course” (Katie Rohman, Aug. 11) regarding the Concord Ridge Equestrian Center on M-139 north of Berrien Springs. Ron Schults has indeed gone above and beyond in building this extraordinary showcase for the equestrian industry in southwest Michigan.
It will indeed complement the proposed Expo Arena at the Berrien County Youth Fair. Not only did Ron Schults build the biggest boarding and training stable in the area, but he also hired the best horse trainers to help run the facility. These trainers further strengthen the equestrian industry in Berrien County and will help make the Expo Arena at the Berrien County Youth Fair a magnet for the best horses and the best equestrian shows in the country.
Thanks to the Concord Ridge Equestrian Center, the scores of fine boarding and training stables, the other excellent trainers in the region and the Berrien County Youth Fair Association, we will soon be able to add Berrien County to the list of premier equestrian centers that now includes Lexington, Kent., Ocala, Fla., Tulsa, Okla., Middleburg, Va. and Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
