Luegennia’s life began on Aug. 7, 1929, in Sandersville, Ga., the daughter of Henry and Rosa Mae (Sanford) Stephens.

Luegennia was a homemaker who loved to go fishing and working crossword puzzles. She had a sharp sense of humor and was well known as a jokester. Luegennia’s laughter will be deeply missed.

Her loving family includes her children, Robert Stephens of Dowagiac, Albert L. Bacon of Dowagiac, Karl M. Bacon of Dowagiac, Ava (Charlie) Bly of Virginia Beach, Va., Dennis (Barbara) Bacon of Dowagiac, Kevin (Jonna) Bacon of Dowagiac and Jeffrey (Sylvia) Holloman of Dowagiac; 28 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Luegennia passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Richard G. Bacon.

Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yazel and Clark Chapel, where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday led by Pastor Tyrone Pace of Second Baptist Church.

She will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
