Dear editor:

Farmers care about the environment. It’s through healthy soils, water and air that we’re able to grow crops and raise animals.
However, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency wants to address climate change by forcing farms to meet regulations that will drive up the cost of farming more than help the environment.
If the EPA has its way, a farmer milking 25 cows or growing 500 acres of corn could be forced to get a costly GHG permit and be regulated the same as a utility, refiner or manufacturer. That’s ridiculous!
Thanks to Upton, a bill is advancing in Congress, H.R. 910, which would prevent the EPA from forcing these extreme regulations on farms and other sites, including schools and hospitals, without Congressional approval.
Like farmers, Upton cares about the environment, and he understands the difference between commonsense regulation and an out-of-control federal agency intent on flying in the face of Congress.
