No one will soon forget the recent heat wave that our local populous was subjected to last week. With heat advisories and warnings in effect throughout almost the entire week, many people, especially seniors were working hard to keep themselves cool.
Silverbrook Manor has teamed up with The Salvation Army and made a donation of six large box fans. The fans were purchased by Silverbrook and were distributed by a volunteer of The Salvation Army to local senior citizens in need.
Administrator Roger Ringenberg, with ownership pending, of Silverbrook reports that he was glad to make the donation.
“We are a faith-based organization,” he said. “We lead by example and we need to bless others, because God has so richly blessed us. We truly look forward to become reacquainted with our Niles community. On behalf of myself and my entire staff, we made this donation to the Salvation Army because we care about the community in which we operate.”
When asked about the transition away from a corporate controlled environment to one of private control, Ringenberg said: “One of the major advantages is that we are now unique. All the time previously spent on conference calls and reports is now spent with our residents and their families. We know that our sense of worth is quantified by resident and family satisfaction, not in dollar signs.
“Also, not being part of a corporation allows us to spend our dollars where we want,” he said. “We spend a lot of our money right here in Niles, we are investing in our community, our money stays right here, sadly that is pretty rare these days. Everyone has a story. We are writing a new chapter in our story, the story of Silverbrook, and it is going to be wonderful.”
Silverbrook is located at 911 South Third St. in Niles. Silverbrook is a licensed,100-bed, skilled nursing facility.
