Annual event promotes outdoor education

The Edwardsburg Conservation Club’s Third Annual Outdoor Educational event for the youth in the surrounding communities will be Saturday, Aug. 27.
The event will be held at the Conservation Club grounds located at 26524 Pine Lake Road in Edwardsburg from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The goal of the event is to promote the club’s outdoor heritage in Michigan by teaching various outdoor activities, such as hunter safety and first aid; archery and tree stand safety; wildlife, plant and animal identification; outdoor photography; bird calling and antler rattling; trapping and furriers; fishing, fly tying and casting; camping and outdoor cooking; muzzle loading; rifle shooting and rifle cartridge reloading; trap shooting and shotgun shell reloading; and survival.
This event is open to anyone ages 5 to 17. An adult or guardian must accompany any participant.
All events are supervised and guides are assigned to each group according to age. This year’s event will also include a wildlife program where children can see some of the animals, reptiles or birds of prey that exist in Michigan and a visit from the DNR Officers from Cass and Berrien Counties.
Lunch will be serves at noon under the pavilion. At the end of the day the group will convene in the clubhouse to complete surveys and address any comments or questions.
Those interested in attending, must fill out a pre-registration form and emergency release form and return it to the club no later than Sunday, Aug. 21.

The Club is open on Tuesday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 10 p.m.
