Alfred T. Joldersma, 92, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Holland, Mich., passed away Monday, June 27, 2011.

He was born Oct.17, 1918 to Alfred and Antoinette Joldersma, graduated from Holland High School, Hope College and the University of Michigan, where he received an master of business administration degree. Alfred was employed at Arthur Anderson, Detroit Harvester, both in Detroit, Kawneer Co. in Niles and Hubbell Inc. in Connecticut, from which he retired in 1981.

Since his retirement Alfred lived in Sarasota, Fla. and summered in Holland and Traverse City.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Millie, in 1982 and his second wife, Grace in 2002.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Sande Galate, of Sarasota; children, Diane and Bob Portenga of Traverse City, Tom and Anna Joldersma of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Jane and Luke Sandborn of Sunfield, Mich.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eunice Coffman of Bloomfield Hills; and several step-children and step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Dimnent Memorial Chapel, 277 College Ave., Holland. The Rev. Mark Nieuwsma will officiate.

A time of fellowship and refreshments with the family will take place after the funeral service in the atrium of the A. Paul Schaap Science Center.

The burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Millie Joldersma Scholarship at Hope College.
